Shamanism
Shamanism has been said to be one of the World's most ancient healing forms found in all cultures. Shamans are typically thought to act as a liaison between the physical and spiritual worlds working with visuals, rituals, and animal spirits. Shamans have been known to interpret dreams, facilitate healing, divinate, control forces of nature like the weather, communicate with animals, have a profound knowledge of plants and herbal uses and properties, astral project, and travel between planes of existence.

The word Shaman is translated from Siberian Tungus as literally meaning he or she who knows. Practitioners have also been called witch doctors and medicine men.
The Shaman is said to use various techniques to access different ranges of consciousness. Some of these techniques include drumming, singing, dance, fasting, sweat lodges, and use of herbal substances.
Shamanism is still practiced today in various cultures and parts of the world. The New Age movement has borrowed some of its ancient techniques and forms of healing.
