Yoga is easy to learn. Even if you are out of shape, there are basic yoga steps you can do. As your body and mind shape up, you can do more advanced yoga positions. Taking a class is a great introduction to yoga. But, if you live in an area where classes are not given, you can purchase a DVD or book that introduces you to the basic understanding and positions of yoga. Even starting out just the basic moves of yoga can make you feel physically better. The amount of yoga you will want to do will depend on your fitness level. If you are out of shape, start out slow and work your way up to a longer workout.
One of the best things about yoga is it requires very little equipment. For clothing, you should wear something in which you feel comfortable. Because some yoga poses require you to place your head below your hips, you may want to wear something form fitting so your shirt stays in place. You can wear pants or shorts for bottoms. You do not need any fancy shoes for yoga. In fact, yoga is usually practiced barefooted. Most people use a yoga mat, but those are very affordable and can be purchased at stores like Target and Wal-Mart.
If the grind and stress of daily life is getting you down, try yoga. You will find even just a few minutes a day very beneficial.
