Channeling
Channeling is the means by which a psychic receives message from the spirit world. One example of channeling would be if a psychic were to tell you that your deceased father is coming through to him or her. However, some channelers are able to see future events.

Channeling is not a new practice. In the late Eighteenth Century, psychics (or spiritualists as they were called then) experienced a wave of interest. People wanted to know if they could talk to their loved ones after they died. People die unexpectedly every day and many with unresolved issues with family and friends. To try to bring peace to that situation, people seek out psychics that might be able to get in touch with their loved one to help comfort themselves. It also comforts many people to know that there is “another side” that they go to when they die, since exactly what happens after death is so mysterious and uncertain.
Often, psychics that are channeling not only hear what the spirit is saying, but also have the spirit enter their soul and use their body as a vehicle. As the spirit and energy takes over the psychic’s body, the psychic himself or herself becomes unconscious. This phenomenon usually only takes place for a few seconds or minutes at the most. If you see a psychic physically channeling someone, you may notice them shake or tremble. This is a normal occurrence, especially if the psychic is new to channeling. Much like someone who has suffered a seizure, when the psychic awakes from the channeling, he or she may be completely unaware of what has happened or been said.
One of the best-known channelers was Edgar Cayce. In the late 19th/early 20th century, he made many predictions about future events including the directions that health, science, and even politics would take. Cayce could not explain his powers other than that he obtained them from reaching a state of mind in touch with the knowledge of the universe. Cayce is believed to have done over 14,000 readings in 43 years. One of his most publicized readings was that of Aime Dietrich. She was developmentally delayed as well as suffering from seizures when she first saw Cayce. Using his treatment suggestions, she regained her health despite the fact that doctors had said she was a hopeless case.
Cayce died in 1945, but even today, there are tens of thousands of his students, located primarily in the United States and Canada. The Association for Research and Enlightenment (ARE) is located in Virginia Beach, VA and promotes interest in Cayce today.
