Jeff Gordon
Jeff Gordon, the NASCAR superstar number 24, was born August 4, 1971. He first sat behind the wheel of a quarter midget at the age of 5 at the urging of his stepfather, John Bedford, at a makeshift racetrack in Vallejo California.
At age six he won 35 main events en route to the Western States Championships. After graduating to sprint cars, his first sprint car win came in 1986 at the KC Speedwagin in Chillicothe, Ohio. In 1990 at the age of 19, he became the youngest USAC National Midget Champion in history. He won 3 Busch Series in 1992 before moving to Cup racing.
In 1993, Gordon took Rookie of the Year honors. The first of his 4 titles came in 1995. He also won in 1997, 1998 and 2001. He is widely regarded as the best active driver in NASCAR because he achieved so much through sheer talent at a young age.
Currently single, his marriage to Brooke Sealy ended in divorce in 2002.
