Linda Ronstadt
Linda Ronstadt was born July 15, 1946 in Tucson Arizona to a German-Mexican father and a Dutch-English mother. She was raised on an Arizona ranch and attended Arizona State University.
Her career began in the mid 1960's when she appeared in Los Angeles clubs with the folk group The Stone Poneys. Her debut solo hit was You're No Good. Her first solo hit single was in 1970, the country-rock crossover, Long Long Time.
While her roots are in the LA country and Folk rock scent, she did showcase her talent by appearances in the Broadway adaptations of Pirates of Penzance and La Boheme. The Pirates of Penzance appearance led to a collaboration with Nelson Riddle who arranged and conducted her 1983 collection of pop standards, What's New.
After a brief foray into pre-rock pop she settled into a pattern of adult contemporary pop and Latin. She has 11 Grammy awards and lives in San Francisco with her adopted daughter.
