Hillary Clinton
The junior United States Senator from the state of New York was born Hillary Diane Rodham October 26, 1947 in Chicago Illinois. The oldest child and only
daughter of Dorothy, and Hugh Rodham, she has two younger brothers, Hugh and Tony. She graduated from Maine South High School in Park Ridge Illinois.
While in high school, she was fond of sports and was also a Brownie and Girl Scout. Surprisingly enough, while in high school, she supported Arizona senator
Barry Goldwater's presidential campaign.
Senator Clinton graduated from Wellesley College as valedictorian and was the first student to deliver the commencement address. Active in the college Republicans, she later joined the Democratic Party, and the rest is political history. At Yale Law School, she met future president Bill Clinton, whom she married in 1975. She and the former president have a daughter, Chelsea, who was born in 1980.
Senator Clinton practiced law in Arkansas with the Rose Law firm and was the first female to be made a full partner. She is a proponent of children's welfare and took many pro bono cases as a children's advocate. She served 12 years as first lady of the state of Arkansas and 8 years as first lady of the United States. Except for Eleanor Roosevelt, she is regarded as the most openly empowered presidential wife. From 1985 to 1992, she served on the board of directors for TCBY and Wal-Mart Stores.
Senator Clinton has a solid base in New York City, and serves on some of the most influential committees in the US Senate, including Armed Services, and Public Works and Environment. Following 9-11, one of her top priorities is Homeland Security. Largely regarded as a proponent of American Liberalism and Free Markets, her senate challenge in 2006 is expected to be the son-in-law of former president Richard Nixon, Edward Cox. There is also a widely held speculation that you will see a Hillary Rodham Clinton 2008 campaign.
