Vedic Astrology - Everything Old Is New Again
Vedic Astrology is a 7000 year-old Indian system that is used to this day to predict marriage compatibility and to provide guidance in matters relating to having children, maintaining health, fostering spiritual growth, and other lifestyle-related issues. The Vedic Astrology birth chart is unique in that it takes into consideration that the universe, or zodiac, is constantly moving and is not a fixed object. To have developed this theory 7000 years ago gives some insight into the knowledge that these people possessed even back then.

The ancient's knowledge also took into consideration that the zodiac is elliptical, and not circular like other astrology systems assume. As a result, the Vedic Astrology birth charts are not 30 degree apart from each other. They vary according to the exact time of birth. This allows for a much more accurate reading than can be obtained using any other system.
Vedic Astrology derives its name from ancient Indian scriptures known as Vedas, which is Sanskrit for "knowledge. The Vedas are "apaursheya" which means " beyond the realm of man and time." Indian legend says that the Vedas were documented by wise men known as "rishis" who had a spiritual connection to the Universe and were well versed in its creation and operation. Vedic Astrology, also called "Jyotisha" or "Jyotish" which means "eye or light of nature".
The Basics of Vedic Astrology
Legend says that Vedic Astrology was introduced by "Brahma" who is believed to be the Creator. The Vedic methodology was taught to the Rishis who passed the knowledge to man. The current Vedic Astrology methodology is credited to Maharishi Parashara who lived several thousand years ago. His book entitled Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra is the work that all modern Vedic Astrology is based upon.

Vedic Astrology Consultations are very Complex
That's because in addition to the "rasi", or basic natal chart, there is a Moon chart called the "nakshatras", and additional birth charts called "shodasavargas" which also must be examined. All in all there are 15 separate charts that are consulted when preparing a Vedic Astrology reading. Clearly this is a difficult task for all but the most experienced Vedic Astrologers.
Anything that has survived for 7000 years and is still in use today must have some value. See for yourself why Vedic Astrology is so widely used in its homeland that is known for wisdom and spirituality.
